Hello ladies, I pray you are having a great week. We are one day closer to Friday so let's finish well. This thought came across my mind as I worked with my clients this week. I listened to these ladies as they spoke so negatively about themselves for not measuring up to society’s standards as well as the views and opinions of those closest to them. I want to share with you what I shared with them.
"You are not mandated by the laws of God or man to measure your worth by the critical opinions of others".
One of my clients constantly puts herself down because she has been programmed to think she is not a good mother. So, I asked her, "do you prepare meals for your children"? She answered, “yes.” I asked, "do you bathe your children, wash their clothes, kiss them goodnight, comfort them when they cry, and sit up with them when they are sick"? She said, “yes, I do all of those things because they are my babies.” So I said, "it sounds to me like you are a good mother and I need you to celebrate yourself. Focus on the good you do and not so much on what you don’t have time to do".
"Your children will love you just because you are their mother".
You see, ladies we don’t necessarily have to do something big to get recognized so others will pat us on the back. On the contrary, we need to be the ones who pat ourselves on the back. It’s the little things we do every day that makes the heart of God smile. Celebrate yourself when you kiss your children before they go to school. Celebrate yourself when you make small changes in your life, such as drinking more water or going outside to get some sun.
Understand you don’t need a lot of people to tell you how amazing you are, you should know it in your heart. Look at your daily life, focus on the good you bring to the lives of people, no matter how small it may seem and don't forget to celebrate yourself.
Love and Blessings,
Dr. Doris
